Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination

Through the Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) Office, Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center is establishing the next generation of leaders in cancer research and treatment. Whether you are a passionate student, a dedicated professional or someone seeking to make a difference, our team provides valuable insights and resources to contribute to the transformation of cancer care.

Emphasizing diversity and inclusion, CRTEC connects learners from all backgrounds to meaningful educational opportunities by:

    • Engaging middle and high school students to help them experience the rewards of careers in cancer care and in unraveling the mysteries of cancer.
    • Providing undergraduate and graduate students from across the country the resources needed to transition into research-focused roles.
    • Equipping predoctoral Ph.D., M.D. and M.D.-Ph.D. students with pathways to expand their training to include concentrations in multidisciplinary cancer research and care.
    • Connecting postdoctoral research fellows to training opportunities in basic and translational cancer research.
    • Connecting clinical residents and fellows to training opportunities in hematology and medical oncology.
    • Helping early- to mid-career professionals who have recently entered the workforce advance their careers while focusing on cancer research, healthcare and related fields.
    • Funding cancer researchers through career development awards to deepen their work to produce the next cancer breakthroughs and assisting them in preparing grant applications.
    • Providing medical professionals continued growth and development, emphasizing career progression, leadership development and mentorship opportunities.

CRTEC works closely with teams in Community Outreach and Engagement to ensure our programs address the needs of the communities we serve in Arizona, Florida and the Midwest.
